How JoinerKasi Handles Your Data
This Privacy Policy explains how JoinerKasi (“we”, “us”, or “our platform”) collects, uses, and safeguards personal information when local landlords list properties or prospective tenants search for and request physical viewings for township rental accommodation across South Africa (including Cape Town, Gauteng, and Eastern Cape communities).
Collecting Information
To enable direct communication between landlords and tenants, JoinerKasi collects necessary operational information. We refer to any data that uniquely identifies an individual as “Personal Information”.
1. Tenant Viewing Requests
Examples: First name, last name, mobile phone number, ID number, and selected viewing date/time slot.
Purpose: To notify property owners via direct WhatsApp/SMS alerts and coordinate physical property viewings.
Source: Submitted directly by the tenant when requesting a property booking.
2. Landlord Account & Property Data
Examples: Full name, owner ID, verified email, phone number, listing address (township, suburb, city), monthly rental price, and photos.
Purpose: To publish verified rental units and process subscription tier activations via PayFast.
Source: Created when registering or posting property listings on JoinerKasi.
Protection of Minors & Security
JoinerKasi is intended exclusively for adults seeking or offering residential housing. We do not intentionally collect or process personal details from individuals under the age of 18. Secure server encryption protects landlord and tenant interactions from unauthorized access.
Sharing Information With Community Partners
JoinerKasi never sells tenant or landlord data to third-party advertisers. Data is shared exclusively for platform operations:
- PayFast Payment Gateway: To encrypt and process subscription plan fees securely.
- Landlord-Tenant Direct Link: Sharing contact details between a verified landlord and a tenant who explicitly requests a physical viewing session.
- Security Integration Partners (ADT & DGS): To activate tier protection features chosen by landlords for qualifying properties.
Your POPIA Rights (South Africa)
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), South African users have the right to request access to their stored data, update outdated information, or request complete removal of their landlord or tenant profile from the JoinerKasi database at any time.
